  • Minnesota Lakes and Rivers  The Minnesota Lakes and Rivers Advocates is the organization in Minnesota that is really helping Lake Associations, County COLAs like our Wright County COLA, and the MN COLA that also represents our Lake Association . The Minnesota Lakes and Rivers Advocates is a small company of three people.  The Executive Jeff Forester is a well known lake advocate in MN for the last couple decades.  He is assisted by a Executive Administrator Judy Corrigan, and  Lobbyists.  He is the only Lakes lobbyist in the State.  Please sign up of the Citizens Action Network to see what can happen if we all speak up about issues that are helpful for the protection of our lakes.  When you do this, just enter the zip code of your home address and it will take you to the site.  You can remove your name any time you want and you will only get a few e-mails a year when action is needed.  The email you get will explain the issue and give you a prepared note to YOUR representatives. They encourage you to personalize your note, but if you don’t have time you can just click the yes button and a message will be sent.  This system is working great but we need all the help we can get.  When a representative gets a message from a constituent they think about it.  When they get hundreds they get serious about the issue.  This is a great way to help at the State and Local level and takes just minutes to make a difference.  This does not cost you anything, and if you like what the Lakes & River Advocates do, you can join the organization by sending them what ever amount of money you want.   Start with a few dollars and see what they can do with that.  This is a great example of “a few people advocating  to make a big difference”.
